SDSU 2002: Named a first-team Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball magazine…Also a second-team all-Mountain West Conference selection…Chosen San Diego State’s Most Valuable Offensive Player and Top Freshman…Selected to the all-tournament team at the league championships when he went 9-for 20 (.450) with seven runs scored, two doubles, a triple, two home runs and five runs batted in.…Led the Aztecs with 58 runs batted in, nine sacrifice flies and a slugging percentage of .591…His 18 doubles, four triples and eight home runs all ranked second on the squad…Tied the SDSU record for doubles in a game with three against New Mexico on April 7…Was hit by pitch on eight occasions to rank seventh on the Aztec single-season list in that category…His nine sac flies are the second-most in a season ever by an Aztec…Came to the plate 29 times with a runner at third and less than two out, and drove in the runner on 27 occasions…Hit .392 overall with runners in scoring position…Had the team’s second-longest hitting streak (12 games) during which he batted .455 (20-for-44) with nine runs scored, four doubles and 11 RBI…Also had a nine-game streak late in the season, going 19-for-37 (.514) with 14 runs scored, two doubles, two triples, four home runs and 16 RBI…Recorded 25 multiple-hit games during the year with a personal best five hits vs. Brigham Young on May 24…Led the Aztecs with 15 multiple-RBI outings…Had a pair of four-RBI contests (at Air Force on May 3 and at New Mexico on May 12)…Excellent defensive outfielder who committed only one error in 105 chances for a .990 fielding percentage…Recorded six assists from his right field position…Batted .344 in league play with 36 runs batted in over 30 games.
High School: Four-year baseball varsity letterman at Bonita Vista High School under coach Bill Getz...Named first-team all-CIF as a senior after batting .537 with 28 runs scored, 11 home runs, 35 runs batted in and eight stolen bases...Finished among the top five hitters in the county...Player of the year in the Metro Mesa League and an all-league first-team selection... Also named to the all-San Diego CIF/Breitbard Hall of Champions team...A second-team all-CIF choice as a junior...Played in the Team One National Showcase and Best of the West Showcase...Also played soccer (sweeper), and basketball (shooting guard) at Bonita Vista...Won coaches award and best defensive player award for soccer...Member of the all-academic team two years in baseball and soccer...Honor roll student all four years.
